WHOOMP There IT Is! #6

Hello and welcome to week #6 of WHOOMP There IT Is!

I can't believe I haven't opened my giant roll of batting.  It's been standing in the same corner of my bedroom for about 3 weeks now. I'll cut into you soon enough Hobbs, I promise. ;)

Besides the custom quilt order I'm working on at home, I've been going every Thursday to my instructor's house to work on the Christmas gift paper piecing project.  She's a lovely woman from Quilters Anonymous, our chapter of the Arizona Quilters Guild. Anyway, It's all pinned up on her design wall. She's been such a dear, coordinating my numbered fabrics w/the respective paper pieces. She gets several sets together and lines them up for me, so when I finish one, the next one is there ready and waiting. Yesterday was my 3rd week and I believe the 20" square top will be completed in the next 2 Thursdays.  It's been such a pleasure visiting in her home and getting to know her and her husband.

I actually have quite a few things to do "by Christmas"; three other quilts, eight pillowcases and hopefully several (2 dozen or so) simple sewn gifts for friends. On my honor, I will try not to add another thing to my "by Christmas" list!

I've already been thinking about my resolutions for the new year.  However, losing weight or exercising more have not even crossed my mind.  A more important resolution to me, is to do one project at a time.  I need to test and see just how productive I'll be. I'm thinking it will probably be about the same, but w/much less stress and anxiety.  Who's with me? (side note: I wasn't sure if I should've used who's or whose. Grammar Check says "no writing errors were found" either way...so I guess they are both acceptable??)

Back to the subject of paper piecing though, I'm really falling for it!  I thought I was going to hate it but it's quite amazing.  I love how the Christmas gift project is coming along, but I wanted to have something to show and share this week. Since I'm halfway finished w/the top of the custom order, I decided to use what I've learned paper piecing and do a small solo project. I stitched up these 2 blocks the other night; cups of tea. After I add embroidery floss to the tea bag tags, they shall become a pair of mug rugs.  The pattern is one of several free patterns, by Maartje of Quilt in Amsterdam . Thank you Maartje!
Thanks for visiting.  Now it's your turn to share what you've been working on.

  1. You know I love everything you do, and I love that you named your roll of batting! 😊
Side note: You chose the correct "who's", as in "who is with me?". The other "whose" would be used more as "Whose fabric is this?". At least I believe so. 😉
Good luck with the one project at a time! I have yet to be able to do that. 😐

    1. Thanks Mel..for reading and commenting. I knew who's was right...but then I 2nd guessed myself. I've several things I'd like to finish before starting the 1 project at a time. BTW you are a no-reply blogger. I can help you fix this sometime if you are interested.

  2. I really need to start thinking about what I need to get done by Christmas. Of course I still have my list from last year I did not get done. Thanks for hosting.

  3. Batting never remains unopened at my house, it seems - unless it's an extra roll! As far as who's vs. whose, if you can substitute "who is" for the word and it still makes sense, it's who's. I'm working hard on Christmas, almost finished with other people's Christmas projects and ready to start in on my own. It's a busy time! Thanks for the link party!

  4. Good Morning Zenia, thank you for the sweet visit to my blog. I love paper piecing, it's my favorite thing to do while watching TV in the evening with my hubby. I'm a wannabe farmer, too. Since we moved to the country a year and a half ago I have had two wonderful gardens . . . no animals except our dog. My husband doesn't want to be tied down to caring for animals. What instrument do you play? I sing and play with a local group, we play at the farmers market, the county fair and at nursing homes. It's fun and brings a lot of smile to a lot of people :)
    Have a lovely weekend.
    Connie :)

  5. Praise for Led Christmas Tree
I ordered a Led Christmas Tree from bizarkdeal.com. This tree has me excited for the winter holidays. Right now, we have it in our living room. It will make a great addition to the outdoors when winter comes, though. According to my husband (who couldn't wait for me to get home from work before he set it up), it was easy to put together and the LED lights are "the real deal" - he's a light expert, apparently (wink). The kids keep going in the room and ooo'ing and ahh'ing at the tree, too. The tree did come with a set of snowflakes. I am not sure if it's because it's just the start of fall, but I wasn't exactly in love with the way they hung on the tree. The lights on the snowflakes are a different brilliancy than the tree itself, so they sort of stood out. Maybe outside I'll get it? Also, because we haven't had it outside yet / for the winter, I do want to note that the cord is thinner and less rugged than I'd expect for an outdoor tree. We will have to test it later this year and see how that goes. All in all, a great decoration for your home. (Note - I was provided this tree for review; all opinions are 100% my own.)
