WHOOMP There IT Is! #25 - Quilt Show Faves, This Hair! and So Long My Friend

Thanks for stopping by. I so appreciate all of you and your wonderful comments. Thank you!

The Arizona's Quilters Guild 2016 Quilt Show was fantastic!  After my volunteer shift on Saturday I walked the entire show...for the 2nd time. The 1st time was on Thursday after the awards ceremony.  There were 300+ quilts and a ton of vendors. It was a day spent in quilty splendor and I left the show filled w/so much inspiration!

I entered Gossamer in the Pictorial category.  Here are the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in the category.   Can you say AMAZING?!

I love scrappy quilts so it's no surprise that most of my faves were scrappy delights!

Here are some of my other favorites! Forgive the bad lighting/photography on some of these pics.

Now about my hair....

I've worn it short most of my life but I've been growing it out for about 1.5yrs.  Here's a pic I took a few days after my last hair cut in October of 2014.  I went to visit Greta of Material Datchment and we went the the AQS Quilt Show in Des Moines.
I've been wearing hair extensions (braids) for the past year, but recently decided to give my neck a break for a while (any braid style tends to be heavy when you have as much hair as I do). I took the braids out and treated myself to a silk press.  It took my stylist, Maranda, less than 1 hr to transform my mass of hair into silky bliss. Thanks again Maranda! It won't stay like this forever.  As soon as I warsh it, it's back to my worlds of curls but I'll ride this silky wave as long as I can.
l to r: warshed, blown-out, silk-pressed
And one last thing before the linky. Yesterday a very dear friend went home to heaven. She was the best Scrabble player ever...even at 91yrs old!
Elinor is on the right
Elinor, you are already missed! Until we meet again, rest in peace.

Now it's time for sew and share.

  3. I just love it when the quilt show ribbons match the quilt like the ones in the pictorial category. Great new doo, but I do like the just warshed curls! I am sorry to hear about your friend.

  5. I've seen some of those quilts! They are gorgeous in person and it's pretty amazing to be able to see them up close and personal--to decipher their makings and so on. Miss Elinor looks like the sweetest of ladies. I'm sure you will miss her terribly.

  10. As my mother would say, "It takes a beautiful woman to wear their hair that short!" Enough said. Mine has been growing for about the same as yours, but it's a slow process. Isn't it great when you can finally get it back in a ponytail?

Congratulations on your recognition of excellent quilting, and I'm glad the whole experience was good for you! It's fun to have the time to really take in all the pieces in a show, and I appreciate you sharing them with us.
